I haven't had a kalanchoe quite like this one. New blooms keep appearing daily. I like using them for macro shots and am having fun experimenting with washi paper backgrounds. I like the way the buds showed up in this pic.

Hello awesome Flickr People !!

Today is a yellow day at Color my World Daily and the theme at the fabulous *ღღ* Cosas de casa *ღღ Group, is white background.

So what is yellow, full of vitamins, goes great with gin & tonic and looks awesome on white background ? Lemon of course !!

I had this picture on my mind for quite some time now so when I heard the white background theme I was ready !

Well at least in my head, because capturing the picture that I actually like is surprisingly very time consuming (am I too obsessive ??? Am I a photography monster ?? I think we have something here.)… We all (yes, my family’s input is mandatory during the photo shoots !!) almost lost our minds with this one… Luckily we had gin & tonic for my husband and I and video games for my sons to calm down… So cheers my friends and I hope you like the result !

old bridge down by the mud (mud river) i have taken a lot of pictures from this bridge and now they have blocked it even for walking on. it is wildly warped and probably shouldn't be walked on.

Photographing signs is not the most original venture. In the background, a few lights from the skyscrapers in Frankfurt downtown can be seen. Just messing around.

The story behind this image: woke up early to go out and try my luck at some fog photography, and I was lucky because there was a big cloud of fog coming over some surrounding hills so I grabbed my camera, tripod and went out to see what I could find. I had no particular location in mind so it was kind of a challenge, but I was also in a rush because the fog could lift very fast. I found nothing interesting or worth spending time on the composition, rather than look for a better one, so I was driving and looking around when I saw this. There were some branches sticking out of the water and some birds were sitting on them, with fog covering the background very fast. At some point the birds were barely distinguishable. The problem was that they were too far away for me to capture a more detailed shot of them, so I shot this at 140 mm with my kit lens, reaching out as far as I could but still…. I needed a longer lens. So I felt the frustration of seeing a good image but not being able to take it. Instead I went for a minimal image, my first attempt so far.

Question: Would a Sigma 70-200 2.8 have done a better job? I have one but left it at home because it’s big, heavy and bought it mostly for portraits. Let me know what you think because I always think about taking it with me and end up leaving it at home.
